Fundraiser
December 8, 2006 – The Street Synergy Community Association hosted a wine tasting at Harriman Hall on UB’s South Campus. The event, which raised funds for Street Synergy programs like Urban Discovery, auctioned off center ice Sabres tickets and many other valuable items donated by the Street Synergy community. Hertel Parker Liquors (1895 Hertel Ave.) generously donated and poured many fine wines enjoyed by all who partook. The music was provided by the UB Jazz Ensemble (directed by Dave Schiavone) and included Jason Mohr on piano, Masashi Sasaki on bass and Brendan Fitzgerald on drums. “It was the perfect blending of jazz, wine and fine foods.” said Street Synergy board member Pheland Floyd, acknowledging that famous Jazz Saxophonist, Archie Shepp, taught at UB from 1969-1974. Mark Bostaph (Street Synergy Planner and Vista) and Lauren White arranged a gourmet spread of international foods to sustain the wine tasters. In addition to the significant funds raised, the celebration provided an opportunity for members of the UB and nearby residential communities to get together for a great holiday neighborhood party.
