Mission Statement
Street Synergy Community Association Inc. is an organization of social change dedicated to
maintaining, and to improving the integrity and strength of Buffalo's University District neighborhoods and to improve the community's quality of life. Our programs, "Better on Bailey" and "Urban Discovery" seek to stabilize and strengthen the economic competitiveness of our community's business district and to increase homeownership, respectively. In addition to these long-term programs, our day to day activities revolve around keeping our neighborhoods clean and in good order.
History
Street Synergy organized in 1999 and incorporated in 2001, combining 50 years of block club history in the University District, represented by LaSalle, Dartmouth, Rounds, Shirley-Berkshire and Hewitt Avenue block clubs. Street Synergy exists to revitalize the community of poor to moderate income residents it represents. Its specific goals are to improve the orderliness and security of the community while endeavoring to increase the percentage of residents who own their own home. To accomplish this, Street Synergy created and sponsors Urban Discovery, a home ownership and neighborhood promotional fair to educate the community on the advantages of home buying in the University District. In order to make the community attractive for new homebuyers, Street Synergy creates and executes neighborhood clean up and revitalization programs as well as partners with the Buffalo Police Department to enhance security. Five consecutive years of Urban Discovery has taught Street Synergy that a healthy business corridor along Bailey Ave. is a critical success factor in promoting home ownership.
